Gary and I went out boondockin' today. We shot a few ground squirrels (whistle pigs) and one badger. Gary's first squirrel of the year he got with his 1911 .45 acp ! Enjoyed just getting out and roaming around the hills.

Jealous. I'm in the house doing taxes and one of my renters just handed the keys over today so a quick clean and now looking for new renters.

Gary and I went out today. Gary got a badger with his 22/250, 202 yds., female, 13lbs. 5 oz. Got her perfect, right through the heart, never moved out of her tracks. DRT ! We saw another one but it got away before we could get a shot at it. We shot a bunch of ground squirrels too. Me with my .222 and .22 long rifle. Gary shot a few with his 22/250, those centerfires really make them do aerobatics. Picture

Oh yeah, that other little varmint in the picture is Gary's 9 year old grandson, Damien. We're trying to teach him to be a varmint hunter. First badger he's ever seen, he was super excited.

Badger down ! I shot one this morning with my.222, it was a male, weighed 15 lbs. 9 oz. and was stinking pretty good. Shot another one that was on the same mound but it managed to kick itself back down the hole before I could get another shot on it. I think it must have been gut shot. Then about 20 minutes later I missed another one at 178 yds. I was afraid it was going to run before I could shoot and jerked the trigger. Rookie shooting, badger fever !
