I'm having a hard time believing that. That is great. That would mean the badgers should not be far behind.

Yeah, thought maybe I might see a badger but no luck there. A buddy did see one a week or so ago. Badgers do come out once in a while throughout the winter, they're not true hibernators. I have seen them in the snow. I'll keep looking.

Saw a few whistle pigs today and a nice badger... To bad I didn't have my rifle. Might go look for him again sometime this week!

Luke, let me know if you want to go look for a badger. I like shooting badgers.

Went out for a while yesterday afternoon. What a muddy, slimy, slick mess it was out there. Thank God for4/WD! We did see quite a few whistle pigs. They are really skittish though. Seems like they always are when they first come out/ Didn't shoot at any, all I had with me was my .204 and we were really looking for a badger or coyote. No badgers, lots of fresh digging's though. Did see two coyotes but they were way out and running, got over the skyline before we could get on them. We came very close to getting stuck, thought we might have to wait until things froze up to get out but we managed to get out. Don't think I'll be going out again until it dries up some.

Still sounds like fun. Sometimes it is all about the adventure, not original intent.

It's always fun to get out and about even if things don't go as planned, we enjoyed the day but at the same time we were kind of glad when we got back on black topped roads.

I've found the black ones are usually missing hair, like mange. Last year in Montana shooting we were seeing large black spots and it was missing hair as their skin was blackish underneath.

I can't speak to the mange but was out for a few hours today and last Sunday. Not too many south of the airport but I've put 48 down so far. Such a good way to decompress!

Yeah, the black one was first for me. I didn't see it good enough to see how it's hair looked. It was running when I spotted it and got into the weeds before I could get on it. I'll keep my eyes peeled for another one though.

I had the same thing going, all excited about shooting a black one, and there were several with nice awesome black spotting, until up close they had mange and it was the skin underneath. That was in Montana so maybe it is different in Idaho, as I have not run across it there yet. Last year in Montana was the first time for the mange and we shot in the same place as the year before when they did not have it.
