Is there a time frame on when the hunt has to be started and ended? My last hunt was in May and the next one is not until about mid September.

Shawn, This is not a hunting contest! (Sorry for the confusion!) It is a writing contest! People will post their stories and pictures, and the members of the club will vote and decide which is the best story for that Quarter! The story that the members choose to be the best for that quarter, will be the winner, the winner will receive a lanyard and calls!
The end of the contest will be November 5, 2016. The winner will be determined on Nov 8, 2016, at the regular monthly meeting!

I believe the story needs to be about hunting from what I was reading. What I'm trying to figure is if it needs to be from a certain time, like recent, or maybe within the last year or any old hunting story from any era.

Any ol' hunting story but you have to submit it between now and Nov. 5th. I think that's right.

Alright, good first time experiences and a good story. That's what web like to hear. You're hooked now, keep after them and think about joining our club. Sounds to me like you're ready to enter one of our tournaments too.

Well can't say I'm much of a writer. I have only had a chance to hunt whistle pigs which are no longer legal to hunt. I was lucky enough to get a honey hole for the little buggers on a mint farm that a nice last offered me soul shot at hunting her place. I had never had a chance to hunt. Tits farm was over run with the little buggers. Over the course of a couple of weeks I was able to kill just under 200 of the fuzzy little buggers. I used a 10/22 and a.223 for long shots unfortunately that is no longer viable hunting location. It was great to hunt there. They were running across the street. 10 or 20 at a time. So many of them I had trouble keeping up reloading. I had hit several that presented at about 200 yards off. It was awesome to be able to explode those buggers at that range. I don't know if I will ever have hunting grounds like that again but it was cool. Now I really wasn't too hook up with someone and hunt for those larger predators and deer hunting if I can find a partner. Happy Hunting All!

Don't know where you arte hunting but it is still legal to hunt/shoot whistle pigs, aka, ground squirrels. They are just down for the winter hibernating. They'll start showing up again around the last of Jan./first of Feb. but won't be out in full force two thee months after that.

Hey Thorny-61
Were you hunting in the area South of the Payette River and North of Glenns Ferry, East of the Snake River. If you were on the Northside of the Payette River, all of Northern Gem County, Payette County, Washington County, Adams County, and Part of Idaho County are closed to squirrel shooting, due to the Fact that the Northern & Southern Idaho Groung Squirrels are Federally protected. The Upper portion of Owyhee County is also protected by the IDF&G, as well as the area East of Glenns Ferry along the Northside of the Snake River to Island Park area, back down on a long sweeping arc back to Glenns Ferry. Another place that is protected is along the Idaho/Nevada Border from Oregon Border up into the Owyhee's over to the east almost to HWY 93 (Jackpot Hwy). There are also couple smaller spots in the SE of Idaho that are also IDF&G protected! WHO told you that the ground squirrels are not legal to hunt? And How Long ago was it you were told! Because IVH went to bat, and got the decision reversed, and redefined the protections of the ground squirrels. As we speak the only squirrels not protected are the Treasure Valley Piute Squirrels from the Payette River south to Glenns Ferry, and the Colombian Ground Squirrels (Orange Bellies)! Orange Bellies live and thrive in higher elevations!
