It was really nice today. Anyone get any shooting in? Thinking about dusting off the .22 tomorrow and putting a few rounds through it. Getting excited for whistlepig season!

So I got out to sand hollow yesterday, got out a bit later then i would have liked cloud coverage kinda damped things, but there was piggys running around not in full force just yet but they where out there, roads are still muddy but not anything a truck shouldn't be able to get you around. I'll be out there again Tuesday.

We have been going out since waterfowl season shut down and the shooting has been good. Not on fire yet but with the weather I'm going to take advantage of it. The roads have been pretty decent but stay out of the puddles. I got stuck up to the axels on Sat and had to call for back up. But with the warm weather the hot spots are starting to become war zones. Saw all kinds of craziness out at the hallow tract. Shooting a cross roads - shooting from trucks - trucks well off the roads and the worst IMHO shooting skyline shots. I took my wife and kids out to break in there new M&P 15-22 and we set up in a perfect spot and then a SUV came by and then turned off the road and drove right behind our berm we used as our back drop we could see the top of his rig. kind of bummed us out as the spot was getting pretty good. had to load up and find a new spot and then got stuck as I was over confident.
Think the plan for the next few days is hitting private land we have access to.

I always try to go on the weekdays, not quite so crazy. I've had dirt bikes run right between me and my target when i was sighting in my rifle, grrrr. Then there's the idiots that go out mud bogging in their 4/wd's and ruin the roads for the rest of us, grrrr again!

I went out to Pleasent Valley yesterday. I'm used to going on weekdays. It was a war zone out there. I had a handful of ricochets go over my head and one hit a few yards away from me. I bailed after that.
I did see about two dozen whistle pigs and could hear them all over. Spent most of the day missing them while sighting in my rifle. Once I got it dialed in, I hit about three of them. I didn't have a table or anything to rest on. I was shooting them standing. I didn't shoot at the fat ones assuming they were pregnant. We need them to birth more targets. Now it's time to find more .22 ammo. Shot some CCI Mini Mags and really liked those. It felt like a more accurate round than the Remington golden bobble heads and seemed to pack a bigger punch.
If this weather holds, I might head out again later this week. Now I need to get a gun rest or table. It would make things much easier.

What I use is a bipod and carry a small folding chair. Works great. You can really get some pretty good shots if you sit right, almost ball yourself up and you can get pretty steady.

Went out this past Wednesday morning checking out the whistle pigs. Saw a few but not like I thought they would be. I think it hadn't warmed up enough. Should have went out in the afternoon. I did get a weasel though.

No, left it out there, shot it with a .17 HMR and kinda messed it up. They are pretty small, might be a little bit of a chore to skin and I don't know where you could get that small a stretcher. They do have a nice looking pelt though. I've shot 3 or 4 of them over the last 10 - 11 yrs., don't see them real often.
