If the pelt is not messed up you can case them, I would think. I've done that to a large Montana ground squirrel and it turned out great. Somewhat like a sock puppet.

Went out Friday and scouted some new areas....a little windy but the sage rats were out in good numbers. The 10/22 got a good workout. By the way, I highly recommend the Kidd trigger for the 10/22.

Yeah, they do case them out. It would be kind of a pain I'd think. They are longer but skinnier than a whistle pig. They would make a neat looking moubt though. Best thig would be to take the whole carcass to the taxidermist and let them handle it.

The sun was out, nice afternoon. It is still freezing at night though. I'm hoping when the nights warm up maybe there will be more out and about.

Went over to Tom's Cabin for an excellent corned beef and cabbage dinner, that Lily can COOK! Afterwards I drove through the El Paso hills to look for whistle pigs. There was quite a few out but still not like they should be. I managed to shoot 10 or 12. There is cattle in there now so had to be careful about where I shot at times. Anyway it was better than sittin' at home. Hope it gets better.

Just took a look at your weather, looks like this Friday may be Whistle Pig shooting day. Tell me how it goes if you are out and about. I'm still living vicariously through you guys till I get there.

Had a really good day shooting whistle pigs this afternoon. They were out all over the place. We must have shot at least 100. Best day we've had this year. The young ones were out. Sometimes we'd see 5 or 6 together on the same hill, Got a couple doubles. Good day in the hills.

A couple of us went out on Wednesday afternoon. We shot quite a few but there wasn't as many as last week. Breezy and a little cooler, might have had something to do with it.

We rocked them this year. We seen and shot a lot of them. I've never seen so many out. Between Montana and Idaho this week we have shot over 1000 of them, most in Idaho. We have a run we do that is a mile or two long and we only got 1/2 of our regular distance in one day. My gun got warm and was shooting like crap for a while till I finally just switched to pistol and let it cool then it was back on. On the last day I had one the I walked the mildot over to it, a real big one, and in around 3 or 4 shots I nailed it at 212yds. His buddy was about 20' away and stayed up and hit him on the next shot. The picture is one of the more average medium size ones that was only about 60yds. Lots and lots of small ones. And the wind was a bit much at times. See the Whistle Pig angle. Really had a great time.
