The contest went better than expected, considering the weather. There was gale force winds all day and a little rain in the morning. We didn't really expect anybody to do very good. There were 7 teams entered. Six teams checked in at the end of the day. The first place winneres were club members, Ed and Twinkle. They weighed in 90.2 lbs. of whistle pigs. Pretty good for the conditions they had to put up with. Everybody was complaining about the miserable wind. I think Gary will report more and post pictures later.

Thanks. 90lbs, that still is quite a haul on a bad weather day, for sure.

72camero,
The year before last, Ed & Twinkle won the Contest with 104 pounds of whistlepigs. And they didn't cheat to do so. They are solid club members, and Ed is the Vice President of our club. So he is out to set a good example for everyone, and show that honesty is a reward in itself, and you are rewarded for your honesty.
But! remember don't ask him where to go, or where he hunts, because he is just not going to tell you!
Ed & Twinkle are fenom varmint hunters. They set the standard for the club! Try to beat them? Yeah you can try? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

How many does it take to make 90lbs, they can't possibly weigh a pound each, I wouldn't think. The other thing I noticed is if you start gathering them up then you are essentially done shooting that area as they really start going underground. Maybe he has a secret caller or one of those things that you stick in the ground that the moles don't like, they come above ground to move away. Hmmm. Good idea.

My goal every year is to shoot more coyote's than Tim and "Legendary", more whistle pigs and rock chucks than Ed and Twinkle.. I don't think it'll every happen but If I ever have year where I can get half of their numbers Id be amazed with myself Congrats to everyone on the fantastic wee-piggin' tourney. Eric.

Yeah, Ed and Twinkle are serious varmint hunters. I think the "legendary" Nick said he weighed a big whistlepig and it was 12 oz. Probably around 8 oz. wold me more like average. So 90 lbs. woud be around 180 whistlepigs, using 8 oz. for an average. Just my guesstamation. Bob

That's what I was thinking around 1/2lb average for a medium size one, and when we shot we had lots of little ones. Hard to believe, especially in the weather you guys were having that that would even be possible, 90lbs. Were there a couple badgers maybe thrown in the bag or someone standing on the scale at weigh in? Wow, amazing job.

Hey Bob,
Good guesstimation! You are about right. They average from 5 to 8 oz. If you fill the bag with the little ones, you are looking at 3-5oz, takes a whole bunch of those to make any weight.
I would imagine the females while pregnant would weigh in at 12-16oz or close to 1 pound.
If Saturday would have been a better day, warm and no wind or slight wind, Ed & Twinkle would have, I would guesstimate in the 110-120 pound range. That would have been a very good day!

Yeah, I wasn't taking the pups into account. There was a lot of them out yesterday, not much bigger than a mouse. They're harder to hit but I got a few of them. It would take a bunch of them to make 90 lbs. Bob
