So we went out to pleasant valley yesterday.. With only our AR's (target practice) And left the .17HMR's at home.. Thinking the whistle pigs wouldn't be out. WRONG!!! And with the .223 I couldn't resist taggin' one little piggy. Here is the result of a 55 grain at 50 yards (Notice the blood spattered sage brush) ;D

HAHA! I'm not surprised.. The .223 is a little much but actually The .17hmr can provide some pretty violent reactions as well. What do you use for piggin?

204 ruger and a 22-250 overkill yes but I like taking the long shots. 250+ yds but certainly won't pass up the frequent close range shots when presented with the opportunity.

Lol, I still laugh when I think about that! I think I still have that picture saved. Reminds of the old song, "Greasy, grimy gopher guts" we used to sing as kids. It's kind of fun shooting them with the centerfires once in awhile.

Yep, son-in-law took a shot with my .17hmr on a close one and the head was left and some of the rear feet. A little guy made even more little.

How high have ya'll got them to launch? If you've spent a lot of time with a .17hmr you know what I'm talking about. Last year I think the best shot I got off launched one spinning into the air at a height of 5-6ft !
It's weird tho because sometimes you get them to launch.. and other times they just plop over? (even when they are shot at the same yardage. I wonder what causes this?

I guess it's the way they're hit, I launched one about three feet with a .22 l.r. The best one though was with my .204, must have been 20 feet or better.
