New Years Day Coyote outing

Went out and had a pretty good day today. We made 3 stands and chased some Crows around before spotting a yote at around 700yds. Ended up circling around him and getting it to come into about 270 - 300 yds. With a bad rest we missed the first and subsequent shots at various distances. We drove on to a new spot (took us 4 hours to get there) made a couple stands before deciding to drive back home for the day. As luck would have it we spotted 4 coyotes roughly 500 yds out. While driving to a better position we ended up kicking free a fifth coyote at around 75yds. We got into position and were able to call in two of the three coyotes we could see. I took the lead Yote at 175 yds with the 35gr Berger bullet (small entrance, no exit). Dropped and never took another step. We took shots at the second one but he quickly made it to mach speed and safety out of sight.
This was a big Coyote. Largest one Ive seen or shot to date. I estimated him at somewhere between 40 and 45 pounds.

Yeah I was hesitant to post the story about how you and I went out two days before and I missed the yote at 100yds
We'll get back into them this Saturday. I can hardly wait for that trip.

That's pretty cool. I got to sit trying to lure ducks for two days and finally figured out of all the decoys and calls we had none were the type of ducks in the area. Made a rough outing. If only they would let us shoot them with rifles.
