There's a few people that use ghillie suits, they don't seem to be as popular as other camo clothing. I've never used them so can't really comment on how they work.

Ghillie suits are probably the ultimate camo but I can barely make out Bob when hes sitting 15 foot away wearing regular camo. I suppose that its probably more important that you stay still. I read an article recently that talked about a guy calling in a coyote wearing a Santa Clause outfit! Im still working on calling in coyotes period..let alone keeping them from seeing me

Was going to go scouting today up here but after a high fever yesterday and I thought it was done, but alas, a 100 degrees yet today and it is a whopping 40 degrees outside and Christmas with my kids and one of the grandkids tomorrow I'm trying to get healthy. I've watched a few videos now and Ghillie suits are maybe one in 10, or less. Seems like the moving fake rabbit is one of the more important thing. One thing I don't get is you are suppose to be still and most everyone hunts with a bipod and it is very common to have to pick the bipod up and reposition you and the gun, wouldn't that spook the coyotes more often than not? I have loose bipod I use for hunting whistle pigs but it looks as though I need to get a solid mount one also for my coyote rifle as the non attached bipod evidently is one more thing to go wrong if it drops or something. I only use the solid mount on the Whistle Pig rifle for punching paper to sight in.

I use a loose bi pod, that's just what I've got used to. One good thing about having a moving decoy is that it keeps the coyotes attention and you can usually move a little with out spooking it.

I use a ghillie jacket and not the pants since im normally sitting on the ground. The biggest advantage to ghillie clothing is that it hides much of your movement (hand calling or re-positioning your rifle for a shot) since it is movement that catches a dogs eye. The big thing to remember if you have to re-position for a shot or move for any reason is to MOVE SLOWLY. If im hunting with one rifle, I prefer shooting stix to a bipod so I can drop the stix for a close in or running shot. If im toting a shotgun and rifle, I like a bipod on my rifle since it will stand on its own while I have my shotgun in my lap.

That is part of the thing I seen a bunch of, most everyone is letting their gun butt rest on the ground with a solid bipod or a nearly ground situation while looking around. I would think you would keep your gun nearly in position best you can to keep movement down. I've also seen chairs, much like the one in my picture, I would think throw some camo cloth over it and have a seat and be a bit higher to see over the scrub brush better and more comfortable as long as you blend in, or is low the way to go. My but goes numb sitting too long on the ground and my back hurts. I had back surgery about 17 years ago while in my early 30's.

I know this stuff is elementary to you guys, but do you normally bring a shotgun along with the rifle? #4 buck shot? This is good for what 40 yds? Skip the shotgun unless feeling really energetic?

Some guys carry a shotgun and a rifle. There are several shot sizes that work well but I think #4 buck is about the most popular. I've read that the Dead Coyote ammo with T size shot is real good too. But that is spendy ammo. I don't carry a shotgun myself, I have a hard enough time packing my rifle and other equipment. I'm the original klutz! One time I wished I'd had a shot gun, a coyote popped out of the brush 16 yds. in front of me and I wasn't expecting that. I had a hard time getting on it with my scope but finally shot it at 26 yds. Went back to the same place later and took my shotgun, didn't call anything in that time. I think most of the time you can get by with a rifle but ocasionally it would be good to have a shotgun. Bob

Family is about to show so I'm getting ready to read Whack m and Stack m again while secluded in the bedroom. Got a pregnant daughter, two son-in-laws, granddaughter showing and two other daughters showing and I don't want anyone to get this flu. 3rd day with a fever but now just over 100. I think my wife may leave a laptop upstairs hopefully except I don't like using them.
