Anyone used a good range finder that can withstand the cold ? (without breaking the bank) Had a bushnell 1000 but anything under 40 degrees the display becomes broken and unreadable. I have to keep a handwarmer packet on each side of it in a case to keep it "alive" Just tired of it costing me a buck fifty each day i use it.

I have a bushnell also. Never had it out in the extreme cold for very long to see that happen though. I have seen cell phones and other electronics do what you describe though.

I use a Leica LAF 1200 RANGEFINDER, it is the best I have ever used. I have used Nikon & Bushnell rangefinders that have let me down at the wrong moment predator, elk, mule deer and antelope hunting. The Leica has never let me down. The others seem to work to 300 yds most of the time. The Leica works out to 1000 yds all of the time. They do cost about twice as much as the others. But if it works it is worth the extra cost
