I am looking for a .22 LR for my girlfriend. I wasnt sure if I should get her the Marlin 795 or a Mossburg 702. Does anyone have any experience with these 2 guns? I have a stock Ruger 10/22 but its to heavy for her for just going out and blasting through hundreds of shells lol.

Cody,
I would look into the Mossburg 702. It is light weight being made from aluminum and plastic stock. My daughter shoots one and it shoots realy well, and I don't think she has ever had a problem with it. And it has a detachable magazine, so you can purchase several and have them loaded and ready to use.

It is strickly for fun shooting. Mostly plastic GI Joe's or something along those lines maybe go out and shoot whistle pigs with it. It isnt for me so it has to be super light.

I got my daughter a Marlin 795 for Christmas and for the price it is not bad. My preference though would be my old single shot, bolt action Remington 510. For open sights it is tough to beat. It just has a great feel to it but the trick would be to find one that is not worn out as my grandmother used her's so often it was about worn out but she could still outshoot all of us. She got hers as an engagement present from my grandfather. Times have changed. Or get the 511 as it has a magazine, but I don't know how reliable the feed is but I would think it would be fine.
