Set up this morning about 6:55, Started calling using Mossback Renegade. After I blew it a few times I started alternating with Mossback Rustler. After about 25 minutes I was about to give up but decided to give the Renegade one more toot. I just dropped the call and all of a sudden there was a coyote 16 yds. right in front and slightly to the right, running right at me, thought it was going to run right into my lap. I pulled up my rifle and before I could get him in the scope good he turned to my right and started circling to my rear. He'd run a few steps and stop, not quite long enough to get the scope on him. Finally he stopped directly behind where I'd been sitting long enough to get him in the scope. When I fired I heard the bullet hit and saw him go down. It was really brushy right there and I could just see his tail wringing above the brush. I ranged a bush beside where he went down and it was 26 yds. By the time I walked over there it was gone but lots of bright red blood on the grass and brush and fresh feces. Looked and looked but never did find him. Probably brushed up right there close somewhere. I was shooting my Ruger #1, .218 Bee with 40 gr. Nosler Varmageddon bullet. From where I was setting to where I first saw him was 16 yds. Shoulda had my shotgun I guess. Even though I didn't recover him, it was a really exciting morning and gobs of fun. First coyote I actually called in all by my lonsome. I'm hyped now, ready to go again. Bob

Cogratulations Bob! That is cool! I bet you are really excited about calling now? Too bad you could get the pictures of the dog, maybe next time.

Dude, We are going to be in prime coyote country this weekend. I will be watching you closely, so you don't sneak out. And if you start foaming at the mouth, I will have to put you down. :-) HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAAAAHHHHHAAAA!

George, yeah, the fever is bad. Once you get hooked it's hard to get off. I may have to check into the local Coyotes Anonymous, "Hello, my name is Bob and I'm a coyote hunter". Get on their 12 step program!

Lol, Nick, good come back. I was going to go out today but Gary kept me at the gun show and wouldn't let me get out. You know those coyote carriers he makes for carrying a coyote out of the field? Well, I didn't realize until today that they could be used to restrain a human being. By the time the show was over and he turned me loose I had the shakes bad. Hmmm, I wonder if I can buy pictures of dead coyotes on the internet?
