Just found this forum and wanted to introduce myself. Moved here about 2 years ago, life long hunter (mostly upland birds), got my 1st Elk this past season (muzzleloader) and now looking to venture into the world of varmint/predator hunting. I have a 13 year old son who will be my hunting partner and just bought a Howa 1500 RL Compact in .223 to put the smackdown on some critters. Now I just need to learn how to call the yotes and find some whistle pigs. We live North of Garden City in the foothills. Looking forward to reading and learning the "how to" on this site.

Hello Chooch,
Welcome aboard! We are glad you found us. Grab yourself a cup-o-joe, and make yourself at home.
Congrats on the elk! We are glad that you are including your son in your hunting, that is great. We like and would like to have more youth hunters participating in the our club activities and events. We hope you and he will join the club and become active participating members.
I think that we can help you learn to call coyotes. We have many years of experience in calling. I try to post articles that teach the beginner and novice callers the techniques that will help them win in this field. But, it is hard to beat actually going out in the field with an experienced callers, watching what they do, asking them questions, learning to set up for the wind and sun, picking a calling location.
Whistlepigs are easy to find. Just go out to the BLM Land, and start looking, you will see so many it will make your eyes hurt, and your brain dizzy.
I am sure you have seen here on the forums, we have a whistlepig tournament coming up in April. Hope to see you there.
Come on out to sit in on a club meeting, check us out, see what we do, get to know us, and us know you. Make some friends, and then you might pick up a new calling partner. And then decide to join the club, and get your son involved!
Good Hunting. Gary

Hey Gary,
Thanks for the welcome. My son (Zach) and I have been watching all the Predator shows on tv (we like Predator Quest the best, that guy on Pred Nation is a little over the top when he puts one down). Trying to pick up some tips and knowledge. We also have a Knight & Hale call that we've been playing w/ (although the wife frowns on that in the house). I saw the info. on the next meeting and will try to make it. Kids (hunting age) are welcome I assume. I do have a cousin who hunts coyotes quite a bit, but, he lives in Salmon, so we don't get out together much. Anyways, thanks and I (we) look forward to meeting some of the members.
Mike
