I went out today with my friend and neighbor, Jeff. When we left this morning it was 5 degrees on my front porch, brrrr. We went down in the Owyhees. Made five stands of about 30 minutes each. We heard a few howl but didn't get any to come in. We were on our way out about 3:00 p.m. when we saw a coyote about 300 yds. out. Jeff jumps out and leans his 6.5/284 across the door just as it stops. He pulled the trigger and forgot to take the safety off. It starts running again, he barks and it stops again but then starts running before he could get a shot. He barks again, it stops again and he dumps it, one shot. It was a female, really light colored, pure white belly. He said he thought he'd have it tanned. After all the stands and calling we spot one driving down the road! It turned into a beautiful day, perfect for calling. Not a bit of wind except for the last stand there was a slight breeze quartering towards us. Neither one of us remembered a camera so no pictures. Had a ball though.

Glad to hear that you took one more off of the food chain. We are going out this morning for a few calls. A little snow would be great and maybe warmer! Hopefully a new post and some pic's later today.
