Loren and I took a day to go calling about 3 weeks ago. We made a half dozen stands. We had one coyote came from way off, but we didn't see him until we got up to leave the stand, but Loren and I both sent lead down range at the dog. When we first saw the dog - it was about 350 yards, it came out of a draw that had a goat trail in it. It walked up the hill side, and as it saw us, it started to trot, then it stopped at about 400 yards, by that time I had my rifle off and the sticks up, I took a shot and saw dirt fly up behind it, and Lorens shot I didn't see where it went. The coyote lite the fire and was gone. So we moved on to another location.
As we were leaving the area, I looked out into a grass flat, standing about 100 yards was a coyote. I told Loren to stop, I throw the rifle up left handed, and fired a shot, shooting right over it back. The coyote finally decides that he needed to run a little bit. I watched the dog run out into the field, there is in the pictures below, a line of trees in the background, the coyote ran out close to those trees and stops, quarters toward me, I put the crosshairs on his shoulder push the trigger, and I hear WHOP! and the dog begins to spin, it spun 3 times and fell down. You can see the entrance, there was no exit. Loren ranged the truck from where the coyotes was laying - 312 yards. Not Bad!
Here I am carrying the coyote on the 4 Noose TBO Game Carrier
Mossback Game Calls - The Bounty Hunter!
When we got back to the truck to inspect the dog, we found that the dog was really old, as you can see from the pictures of it's teeth, they are missing and worn away. And he had a skin condition - not mange! Something like psoriasis. So I left it behind!

Then a couple days later Brendan and I went calling. We had made stands all morning, it was getting warm in the afternoon, so we decided to call it a day, when out of the blue, we saw a coyote standing in a cow pasture, with cows in it. Since Brendan had just bought the rifle a few earlier, I wanted him to blood the rifle, so he took a poke at it at about 80 yards, Bang Flop!
That 53 gr Sierra HP Match bullet is a winner, small entry and small exit, if it does exit? I am really liking them. It really is a one shot-one kill bullet.
