OK, so forgive me if this has been discussed or is even a big no no but. In all the hunting videos only one decoy is used. Has anyone ever tried 2. It seems to me that with the coyotes keen eyes if he is scanning for movement and is at the wrong angle to see your one decoy. Maybe its blocked by a rock or sage brush that a second decoy on higher ground or 50 yards in another direction is better... And point is, less chance that you will be spoted in stead of your decoy.
Second. What about multiple electronic calls using the coyote howl To simulate a group talking to another.
Third, My hunting partner has an electronic call that we have been using. So I am in the market for one. so even though it has a remote. It wont work past 5 feet. Isnt it the point to put the call near the decoy at 30-100 yrds? Any advice on a good call to get. I dont mind spending a lot if I can get my money's worth. And after that I plan to use the combo of both calls to create different scenarios? What are your thoughts on that?

Jason, First off let me say this, "No Question is a Dumb Question" Nor asked too many times.
(Q) Decoys? (A) I don't think I would use 2 prey decoys! Here's why; Think about the sounds that are being sent out, they are distress sounds, meaning that if one rabbit is in distress, his or her buddies are not going to be hanging around - they are going to hot foot it out of there.
With that said? I would say that using 2 decoys would be and is used all the time, but with a rabbit or prey decoy and a coyote decoy. It is a good combo. Also just using a coyote decoy alone is good.
Believe me if there is distress sounds or howls, the coyote that is coming in already knows where the sound is coming from. Also, if there is movement attributed to that sound they have seen it already. If you place the decoy in a location as high as you can get it at the time, (preferably not in a low spot or in a gully or ditch) then the coyote will see it from a long distance.
(Q) Electronic Caller? (A) My partner and I sometimes will use 2 E-Callers at one time. We will use a distress on one, and a group howls, or an invitation howl, in some cases even a challange howl, but not 2 seperate howls. This is because, 2 groups of coyotes WILL NOT be in the same area - it is the territory of one of those groups, which means that the other group is interloping or trespassing on the others territory - which means that the fight is ON! So the coyote that you are trying to call will hear that mess, and go the other direction, becuase he doesn't want to get his or his packs butts kicked. My partner and I will use the caller with a challange howl or group howl, and then we will use a hand call distress - this works pretty well!
(Q) Purchasing an E-Caller? (A) Timber Butte Outdoors sells E-Callers from Foxpro, Western Rivers, Burnham Brothers, Johnny Stewart, Cass Creek, Expedite, and Primos. Idaho Varmint Hunters is a dealer for Western Rivers Calls, the purchase proceeds will go to Idaho Varmint Hunters to help fund the club. Timber Butte Outdoors will donate 10% of the purchase of any of the other calls listed. Email or PM me, I will make you a deal on an ecaller.
I hope this helps you out, just remember, this is only one man's opinion, although I have been calling critters for nearly 40 yrs, and in that time have seen some stuff and have done alot of observation, and learning.
Good Hunting, Gary
