Timber Butte Outdoors ProStaffer Brendan LoCicero and I went hunting this morning, after a couple days of bad weather, it was a good morning, clear, sunny, and warm, with a slight breeze, perfect conditions for badger hunting. By noon the wind had began to howl, and the badger had reteated back to the comfort of the underground. Although we didn't see any other hunters or anyone else for that matter, It seems that we were not the only ones out enjoying the nice day. We saw all kinds of wildlife, badgers, coyotes, antelope, snakes, and a bunch of Burrow Owls. Here are some pictures of the load of badgers we got this morning! We saw 9 badgers, we killed 9 badgers. These were all taken with the spot and stalk method. Some other indigenous wildlife found while on our adventure. A Bull Snake about 2 ft long. Here is a Burrow Owl that we knicknamed "The Sentinal"

That is a lot of badgers. Congratulations. That looks like it was a great day in the field.
What rifles are you guys using there? What is the average range you shot at that morning? Were the badgers wary of your presence or is it early enough that you could close in?

Hey khavic,
I shoot a Remington 700 Varmint in 22-250 Rem. Brendan was using a DTech 243 wssm AR15. He has since sold it and now shoots a Remington VSSF 22-250 Remington.
The badgers that morning were their normal wary. Our shots were from 50 to 200 yards, depending on how close they would allow us to approach them. Most of the time we would just walk out to a point where we knew that we could place a good shot on the badger, usually around 90 to 125 yards. They were all taken after the sun came up and it started to warm up. Get the sun behind you, it makes spotting them alot easier. They kinda glow in the sun.
