Hey Folks,
George (idaho220hunter) called last week and made arrangements for Loren and I to go whistlepig hunting with him. So, yesterday he came and met us at Loren's house. We all loaded into George's pickup and we left Loren's house. We talked as we were loading up, about going to McDonalds for coffee and a breakfast sandwich, so we did.
Afterwards, we drove out into the foothills Southwest of Emmett to look for squirrels, before we got to the dirt road turn off, the highway had a bunch of rats running back and forth across the road. A really good sign for us.
The day started out sunny, but with a good breeze, and was cool in the morning, there was still frost on the windshield in the shade.
The whistlepigs were out, but not in force, we found a spot that had a bunch running around, we stopped got our guns out, loaded them and began to put the smackdown on the pigs.
Gary drew first blood, first shot. Then the carnage was on. Still not a lot out and about.
As the day drew on, and it slowly warmed up, and the wind died down, the whistlepig numbers increased, we found one spot that was loaded, we actually stayed there from 11:30AM until almost 3PM, when we had to go home.
George shot so much his arms got tired holding the rifle up. And he said that he had never in his whole life, shot so much in one day. He stated that he had learned alot from Loren and I about shooting, shooting off hand, and how to control his trigger pull. It was a good day for Loren and I also. We had a great time spending time with George, laughing, poking fun at one another, and shooting till we were exhausted, and I got a little sunburn, it felt great.
I am sorry we didn't get any pictures of George, he was the picture taker today. Sorry George - maybe next time - when you get your first badger!!!!!
