Atad windy today[15-20+mph]. I've told hunters for many yrs. It is always about the wind with coyotes & Red Fox. They don't like it in their face/fronts of their ears. That is "one" reason why they prefer their down-wind areas. Terrain is second, to wind. As they use the terrain to cut the wind, as well as to stay hidden. Not always, but most always.

Female pup bed down 30' away or so. She also put her backside against the wind. She kept a wary eye on me ;D.

I can't say it is 100% fact in all cases. But the Red Fox pups I've viewed for the last couple of yrs. The male pups have a high step forehead vs the females. Which are more stream lined & gradual. That was true of the litters I've seen, last yr & this yr. I've never noticed that difference until last yr.

BTW the pups above, the light colored one is a female. The dark one a male.
