The County Landfill is Free to County Residents.
A couple weeks ago, Loren and I went for a ride on the quads along the main line ditch. While riding, we come across a wide spot in the road, and what did we find there? A couch that had been destroyed and was in pieces, also a bunch more trash and junk laying around the area, that some lazy stupid hillbilly dumb ass actually drove all the way out there and dumped their junk and trash, when they could have driven the same distance and thrown it away in a correct manner and place.
Here is a little good news for all of you! THE COUNTY LANDFILL IS FREE FOR COUNTY RESIDENTS!!!! If you have a license plate on your car or truck, that indicated what county you live in, (as the Idaho plate gives the county that you reside) It will not cost you a thin dime. Just your time and a little fuel for your vehicle, probably the same amount of fuel it cost you to drive way out in the county on public land, to make your trash dump.
CAN YOU TELL THAT THIS ISSUE MAKES ME JUST A LITTLE BIT ANGRY!
I go out to the BLM land south and west of town, and I do a one person clean up, last year I filled my pickup bed all the way to the cab roof, with trash, in the form of stuff that lazy people shot up and leave laying on the ground.
People are able and willing to take the target stuff out there and set it up, but once they have shot it up, they seem to get amnesia, and leave the area without cleaning up there shooting spot.
I have picked up things like shot up targets and target backing, shot up plastic pop and water bottles, and old shot up kitchen oven, a couple of shot up refrigerators, building materials, boards, asphalt shingles, metal roofing, fence wire, barbed wire, concrete blocks, bricks, carpet, carpet padding, card board boxes, empty shotgun shells, box springs and mattresses. There are also a whole bunch of old tires laying around, that I didn’t get picked up yet – I think they are the next project that I will under take.
One of the pickup loads that I picked up was nothing but plastic and glass bottles, pop, water, and beer.
Speaking of glass bottles! People take there beer with them shooting, drink the beer, get drunk, with a gun, then they line there glass bottles up and shoot them, leaving the glass on the ground, and the base sticking up like glass pungy sticks, for anyone, child, or cattle to step on and cut there feet or hooves. People have got to be more responsible than that!
There is a bunch of people that have taken their sick, diseased, dead or dying animals or butchered animals left over parts, out there and dumped them, in places where everyone can see them, like right next to the road. Cows, calves, goats, sheep, dogs, hogs, pigs, coyotes, fox, and imagine a bunch that I haven’t or didn’t see. I found a 55 gallon barrel full of hog butcherings, heads, skins, hooves, and guts, man that was nasty and it stunk.
There is one draw that is about a mile long, on BLM Land, that is absolutely full of trash, fence wire, rolls of barbed wire, household appliances, TV’s, plastic bottles, household items. It would take heavy equipment to clean this mess up.
When I saw this sight, I was just sick to my stomach. This draw is a water runoff course! What does the trash in that water shed do to the water that runs off? Is it completely contaminated with toxins, and heavy metals? Or do you think that it is perfectly OK for you to drink, or water your farm animals, or bathe your children, or water your vegetable garden, then eat the vegetables? These are all good questions!
DO YOU get the idea?.
This is a real problem! If we want to continue to enjoy the foothills, and BLM PUBLIC LAND!
YOU all need to be more consciences about the land, and YOU need to make an effort to make it our responsibility to POLICE these areas, to try to curb this kind of thing. Also EVERYONE needs to take a plastic garbage bag with them when they go out to the BLM, or the desert, or wherever you travel, and make an effort to pickup some trash.
The most IMPORTANT thing is to talk to people and to persuade them to not litter. We need to start a training and education program to reach people, to let them know that it is more responsible to take their trash to the County Landfill, which is free to the County Residence.
All the trucks full that I have taken to the County Landfill, has cost me absolutely nothing. FREE to dispose of the TRASH!
Why would you take your trash to the BLM Public Land instead of taking it to the Landfill???
I CHALLENGE YOU! If any of you don’t believe me, I will take you and show you the disgusting things people dump.
It is now time for ACTION, and start dealing with taking care of our Public Lands, so that we can enjoy them far into the future.
