I really would have to see that. I can't hardly believe that a red could kill a grown badger.

Excellent photos!
I saved the photos to my computer. What a treat to watch the babies playing. You are a lucky guy to be able to sit and watch momma and the babies. I would love to sit there and watch them. The badger looks scared..lol..perhaps he knows what is coming down the road.
Keep up the conservation effort leper, you are blessed indeed.

broper, no doubt face to face combat Red vs badger. A badger would hold its own. But a Red is a much quicker of a fighter. A firm grab on the back of a badger's neck would tell the story.
We use to hunt Reds with greyhounds many yrs ago. I've seen many Reds fight to the death. Reds are near fast as a cat in a fight. I've seen them bite greyhounds 2-3x, for every bite of the dogs.
Watched a movie at the theatre when I was a kid. Movie was called "The Fox"[made in England] if I recall, back in the early 60's. Shown in slow motion a Red low crawling/stalking up on a covey of quail.
Red lunged, quail flushed. That Red snapped 3-4? quail in the air before it was all said & done. They are under estimated as of their abilities.
