I went out yesterday morning for awhile. I really wasn't expecting to see anything, it's been so hot and dry but I wound up seeing two badgers and shooting both of them. First one was at 175 yds. the second was 125 yds. I haven't shot anything for quite awhile but that was the first badgers in over a year.

I went out again this morning. I saw one badger and ranged it at 338 yds. I couldn't hit it to save my life. Shot at it 4 times with my 6 m/m Rem. 85 gr. Sierra h.p. It looked liked I was right on for windage but I just couldn't get the elevation quite right. I was hitting so close, throwing dirt on him every time. He was confused, didn't know where to go. He finally went down while I was getting another round out of the box. I waited for another half hour but he never came back up. So close. It was still a lot of fun shooting at him.

Yep, still fun. We did the same thing with Rock Chucks in Montana. Me and another guy took turns shooting and it was too far for the range finder but gave that Rock chuck and another what looked like a hair cut many times as the bullets were right there next to him, looking like it was going through his hair, and shot till both our barrels got too hot to shoot anymore, doesn't take much with hot loads. Later we got about half way and ranged one direction and then the other to come up with 550yds, with my .243 and 58 grain and my partner had I think his .223 bolt.

I did shoot a badger a couple years ago at 321 yds. Missed the first shot, second shot went right through the neck. Gary and I have shot at several rock chucks that were to far to range. We hit one once in awhile but mostly misses. Fun trying though.

No badgers today. Thought maybe the cooler temps would bring them out but no luck!
