Hi Everyone, My name is Mike, I finally retired after selling guns and running an indoor range in WA State for more than 20 years. It's time to play . I understand this is an extremely busy forum and everyone just loves to post here , but I hope to make some contacts and find someone to team up with when I take my rifle for a walk. Looking to go after Coyotes outside Ada/Canyon County. I'd assume the fewer people are around the better the odds. Let me know if there are any meetings or if someone with some local hunting experience is willing to partner up. Thanks

Hi Mike. Are you living in Idaho now? This is not a good time of year to start hunting coyotes, although it can be done. They are pairing up and starting their breeding season right now. They can be pretty diffucult to call in during that time. Also they are starting to rub and lose their winter coat. Most serious coyote hunters hunt from about Oct. to late Feb., early March. There are some that hunt year around though. We don't have a real meeting but there are a few of us that meet every Wed. at 11:00 for lunch. We meet at Tom's Cabin five miles west of Emmett on Highway 52. You are welcome to come and have lunch with us if you'd like. My parther, Gary, and I are the only real coyote hunters there but we will be glad to talk to you and tell you what we know. Gary has been calling coyotes for close to 50 and is pretty good at it. There are also other varmints we hunt when not hunting coyotes.

Well, thank you for your reply. Yes I live near Nampa. Given the weather and some visitors we expect next week, I would plan to join you for lunch the following week on 2/24. Thanks again for your invite, looking forward to meeting you all. Mike

Yes, I sold the range to two of my employees. Do you know the place?

My son-in-law Joe B. used to work there and I used to shoot there when I first started with handguns quite a few years ago. Just did a FFA buy for a couple of Ruger #1's there a couple months back. We will be down in Mountain Home hopefully in about 3 months for a few days. My daughter lives there with her kids and another son-in-law.
Sorry about the late post as I'm not on much.

Your son in law, he changed a few times but I think he has a federal job now? Small world, I took the Marksman over with 3 guys in 2001 and had a great run, 18 employees at the peak. Doug and John took over. I am glad I can play with the guns now, rather than filling out forms. Maybe we'll meet some day.

Yep, Joe is finishing up a class in Georgia for his Federal police job and will be back within the week back to Washington. I think he even took 1st place in a shooting competition at a major meet with pistol before he left. He is really good.
If possible, I'll try to remember to post when we are heading to Idaho. Probably mid May.
Broper, one of the guys on here is very helpful and he even took us to one of his Rock Chuck spots when we didn't know where to go. The ground squirrels are way more plentiful. I don't remember for sure how many we shot in 2.5 days but I think it was 667 or 778, don't remember which, and that was confirmed hits.

Yes, I remember FLETC. My wife spent 2 weeks there. I think I will meet broper on Wednesday at Tom's cabin. Let me know when you are in the hood. My email is marksmansales@comcast.net
