Hello,
I moved to Idaho a few years ago from Texas. Been Coyote hunting the past few years. I’ve been successful calling dogs and have got a few since starting. Still a lot to learn, just looking for other hunters to go out with, maybe learn a thing or two. I hunt with an AR with suppressor and use an electronic caller. Always looking for new spots and other people passionate about hunting dogs. Please feel free to reach out if anyone else wants to go out sometime or share some knowledge. ✌🏻

Hi Brian. You didn't say what part of Idaho you reside in. There a lot of people that look at our forum but unfortunately we can't seem to get them to talk about anything. We'd like to have everyone tell us there hunting/outdoor stories and experiences. Also post pictures. There are only two or three of us that will do that. Anyway, right now is not the best time to hunt/call coyotes in this part of Idaho (so. west). It will start picking up next month and is best from about Oct. through Feb. or so. There are some people that hunt them all year though. We usually start shooting ground squirrels which, you might have learned, are called whistle pigs in this area. It really heats up in April and May, shooting hundreds a day. The rock chucks start coming out in the spring too and we usually make a few trips to shoot them. We watch for badgers all year long but they are best around June and July which is their breeding season. Right now with the heat there's not much to shoot at. The Idaho Varmint Hunters do have a meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month which was just two days ago. You are welcome to attend if you'd like. You don't have to be a member to come and check us out. Spouses and family are always welcome. Also we get together every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Tom's cabin in Emmett for beans and b.s. It's just an informal social gathering. Come on by if you are free on Wednesdays and meet some of the guys. Did you do any coyote hunting in Texas ? I've read and been told that there is really good varmint hunting in Texas. Bob
