Gary and I took a trip to the high country again to shoot Columbian ground squirrels. There weren't as many as we would've liked but we shot enough to have fun and we got away into some nice country but.............. We picked the wrong time to go, neither one of us thought anything about it being the week end of July 4th until we got there and saw the people. Every little wide spot big enough had a camper or two, sometimes more. People were running up and down the roads in all kinds of vehicles. That might have had something to do with why we didn't see as many squirrels. We had to pick and choose where we shot to be safe. Gary was shooting his 22/250 with 40 gr V-max bullets. It really did a number on them. I was shooting my .204 with 39 gr. Speer TNT H.P.'s. It did s good job of mistifieing them too. We also saw 4 deer including one white tail doe, and a fox which I thought was really neat. On the way home the Payette River was full of rafters and there was a steady stream of traffic on the hiway going north. Anyway we had an enjoyable trip, we were gone 12 hrs. and very tired when we got home. Those kind of trips are getting hard on this old varmint hunter but I'll keep doing it as long as I can. Here's a picture of Gary with one of his victims
