Sounds like more of a badger type round that ground squirrels. That will leave a mark.

Yeah, mostly badger, rock chuck, coyote, jack rabbit, whatever I run across but all of them will definitely leave a mark on ground squirrels !

I'd love to shoot another badger and take another shot at trying to tan one that I can actually get in the house past the wife. The last one from there was evidently in the middle of mating season and had pheromones that would knock your socks off.

LOL, yeah they can stink at times. Mostly the males and if you get it on your self it's there for 2 or 3 days. Last year there didn't seem to be as many, don't know if it had something to do with the hard winter or what. The year before Gary and shot 26 of them.

I like that powder too but usually use H335 with 40 grain bullets.

I've been shooting 28 gr. CFE 223 in mine. Started lower and worked up, seems to be a pretty good load in my Ruger American. So far all I've shot with it id rock chucks but it gets the job done on them. I want to try 335 but haven't found any around here. I'll check a couple places in Boise.

My son-in-law got I think 1/2" groupings with the 40 grain and H335 and his Ruger American. Same load I have gotten some 1/2" at 200yd with 4 out of 5 shots a couple times.

Up to now I have using TAC with good results with 55 gr. Vmax and Nosler BT.....but like to try new components now and then....my favorite caliber is 220 Swift but the Remington with bull barrel is just too heavy....the Winchester M70 223 carbine is ideal for me.

That CFE 223 load I mentioned was with 50 gr. V-Max. Does a number on 'chucks. Used 335 in m .222 years ago and it worked well.

I've been slowly adding 50 grain reloading bullets as I have some 1:7 and 1:8 barrels I'm going to try it on with some vmax and nosler ballistic tip bullets. I've already made up 50 grain soft points that work well in my 1:9 barrel. The 40 grain with the 1:7 is not consistent and I have terrible accuracy with Hornady 55 grain canalure soft points in almost every rifle I have, that's why I'm moving to Vmax type bullets as they always seem to be more accurate.

I use V-Max most of the time but I like the ballistic tip just about as well.

My most accurate have been Nosler ballistic tips but it is a fraction better. Hornady is way better priced.

The Nosler 32 gr. Varmegeddon is the most accurate bullet I've ever shot in my 204. They are quite a bit cheaper than ballistic tips or v-max. I've been told they're really accurate in other calibers too.
