Went out Tuesday. There's a few out, not many but enough to shoot a few. Think I shot 8 or 10 with my 218 Bee. It really makes them do aerobatics.

It sounds like you got some really cool calibers.

We are working on when we will get back there. Daughter moved away to Virginia so it is going to be a bit more of a challenge but we are working on it.

That 218 Bee really is amazing for such a small cartridge and considering it was born in 1937. It can still hold it's own, one of my favorite cartridges. Shawn, I had it when we were shooting rock chucks. Remember the one I beheaded?

Might be the first year I have to miss whistle pig hunting as my daughter moved from Mountain Home and my other son-in-law that did the Montana and Idaho circuit with me cannot go. I really should work on my house but man I'm going to miss shooting for a full week, Rock Chucks, Prairie Dogs and ground squirrels. Last year was 1400 between 3 of us. Bummer, and now I've finally got a great .22lr to add to the .17hmr.

I'm looking at a plan B, grabbing my brother and just going for a shorter stay, drive, 3 days shooting and go home. That's how long the license is for. Still working on it and really trying to justify when I have so much to do around the house.

Went out today and shot a few more whistle pigs with my 10/22. Saw one badger but didn't get a shot at it before it went down. Waited about 20 minutes but never came back up. Even tried calling, only thing that responded was a bunch of cows ! The dirt bikes and 4 wheelers about drove me nuts, grrrr.

That bugger, you think he would come back up in 20 minutes. I got up early at dark, walked to the spot as I thought I knew where I'd see one. Waited and a bunch of whistle pigs all around and some as close as 4 yds as they didn't even figure out I was there being fairly still and had the wind to my advantage. Felt someone staring at me as I was slow scanning and there he was as I turned a bit and there he was 100yds out and he went down and that was it, never to be seen again.

Sometimes they'll sit right out in the open for a long time, just looking at you and other times they go down right away and don't come back. I think those have probably been shot at before. A lot of the time though they'll go down and pop right back up. They seem to be kind of a curious animal. I've only had a couple respond to a rabbit distress.
