Gary and I went out today. We drove 10,000 miles and mostly all we saw was private posted land. We tried some access yes land but it wasn't any good for coyotes. Made a few stands and didn't call in a thing. The wind messed with us, blew every way it could while we were on stand. We did see a runner as we were driving, Gary jumped out and took a shot but by then it was 8 or 900 yds. away. Hopefully, better luck next time.

800 to 900 yards, that's a hail Mary.

I watched a guy shoot a coyote at 900 yds. one time but it was standing still. He was shooting a 6.5/.284, with a Night Force scope. He ranged it, dialed the scope for that range and whop!

It has been really windy out there, so I bet it was tough.

It was kind of a Hail Mary shot, but it was the only shot presented for the day, and so I decided to give it a try anyway! When I made the shot, there was no wind and it was warm.
So when the only shot of the day presents its self, do you try it or do you not try? My Grandpa always told me, if you don't try, you will never get anything or anywhere in life! So step up and go for it! Then you can't say that you didn't try, and feel bad about yourself and decision not to try! Instead just feel bad that you missed, instead of feeling good about connecting!
Thanks Grandpa for the advice! My heart to your heart!!

Yep, gotta try. I saw Gary try a 400 yd. shot on a badger and connect. I said, "you hit him!" That was a pretty good shot. Remember, Shawn, when I tried that shot at over 500 yds. on the rock chuck with my .218 Bee? Wound up being a hail Mary. Or was it, "beep, Mary!" lol
