Hello Everybody,
I haven't really had a chance to use calls yet so I can offer no opinion as to what I like. I will eventually get an electronic call when money permits. The reason I am tapping out a little note is I have just purchased several calls and I am still waiting for one that's on back order. The call I do have I want to take care of. So my question to you is this. What is the best way to take care of calls that have exposed reeds? I don't want to bust the little buggers. Thanks in advance for the help.

mrjnewbee,
The best way to keep calls safe is to get a lanyard with 4-6 call loops, put the calls on it, and then hang it up in an out of the way safe place! Then when you go calling, get it down and put it on, and go call!
Most of the open reed hand call reeds are made from mylar plastic sheets, but there are other plastic materials that are also used! Mylar will not break, but it will bend, or crimp if bent extremely, then the reed will have to be replaced!
Another idea would be to store them in a plastic zip lock bag and place the bag somewhere that it will not messed with! I use an MTM Case Gard Ammo Can to store and carry my calls in, just toss it in the pickup and you have them all with you! And they are protected!

Gary, Thank you very much for your time on the response concerning the calls. I like the MTM case idea so I think I will head that direction.
Thank You Regards, Mark Thornhill

Man! Why do you have so many calls? You must have a thing for calls. What do you do, buy one every time a new one comes out? Must be a fetish thing, I just don't understand.

That is an impressive collection. The ammo box isn't a bad idea for storage.

That is funny! I do collect them, this box is just one of the boxes I have! I sell handcalls, alot of handcalls, therefore I own one of each that I sell, I won't sell what I don't use and what doesn't work!
After using hand calls for the past 45 years, it has become an obsession, if I see a call I don't have, and it is old, and I can afford to buy it, I will hook it up! I like unique sounds, unique looks, exotic woods, new on the market calls, so many calls, so little time??? Obsession!!! They range from $5.00 to $50.00, and they may not be worth anything, except to me, but I don't care I guess, I have them, and I like to collect them, and will continue to collect them as long as I can!
