I wanted to find out about loading for my AR. My projectile of choice is a Nosler 55gr poly tipped boat tail. What are your favorite loads. I was about using Hogdon Extreme but I am not sure. What's your pet loads

I use 25.0 grains of H335 for both the 53 gr. V-MAX and SS109 FMJBT. The 53 chronographs at 3016 and the 109 goes out at 2961. Both print one hole at 100 yards. Note that this load is listed as a MAX load in the AR but my AR which has a Wylde chamber and a 16.1" barrel likes 'em hot. H335 was developed for the 223 and it will work well for just about anything you build for your rifle.

It will also depend on the twist of your barrel. I have a load for 1:12 twist for 40 grain ballistics with H335 that is real good. My prairie dog load and I shoot till the barrel gets hot and starts shooting off. 3400fps with AR 24" barrel. I have fun loads for my 16" barrel with red dot and 50 and 55 grain soft points and I make a load with whatever powder I have, like Varget and H4198 or whatever I've tested loads for. You will have to do ladders and see what your gun likes but I do know mine like H335, H322 and CFE 223 though H335 and CFE 223 are better for my powder drops. In fact, too expensive to load but I had some 35 grain bullets and CFE 223 that the largest group at 100yds was 1/2" with my AR. You have to find what your gun likes.
