We are still on track to be up in the Boise area by mid-2016. Our daughter graduated high school at the top of her class a few weeks ago, and was accepted to the Boise State Honors College, which is a small group of kids within Boise State University. She received a 4 year full tuition scholarship (merit based), so we are very proud of her! She is a pro-gun, conservative kid, so let's hope the University professors don't ruin that over the next 4 years! I'll be up there in late August for a week, dropping her off at BSU and then spending some time with my wife checking out the area again.
Our next-door neighbor already sold their house here and are moving to a new house they bought in Eagle, in about two weeks. His moving van is headed up and he is following with his family, dog and lots of guns! I've been trying to get him into hunting, but with the lack of places to go down here, he hasn't had a lot of chances to go. Hopefully, the move to Idaho will open up more door for him! They are more votes for the conservative cause (note that I keep saying "conservative").
Another family we know, after much prodding from us, headed up there last week and put a deposit down on a piece of property that they will be building on. Now this guy is very involved in the politics of hunting and gun ownership down here and when they finally settle up there in a few years, he will be a great ally to have for the hunting/shooting community. He is also big into hunter education down here, and runs camps, shoots and many other events for kids and new hunters. The yearly camp he helps run down here, north of Los Angeles, brings in 30+ kids to learn about gun safety, how to shoot and many of them take classes to get their hunting licenses! Although he is mostly a bird hunter, I think that will change once he gets up there. They are also another very conservative, Pro-2A, family.
So that's about it from down here. We have lost a few major gun cases and our state government is still pretending that the Heller decision from the Supreme Court is not the law of the land. In light of some of the case results this week, it is very ironic which "civil rights" the liberals that run our state (CA) determine are worthy of immediate celebration and implementation.
My Varminter site has been very busy, and we have rolled out some good articles and videos, that are getting out to a lot of readers. Our AR15Hunter.com site is coming up on its one-year anniversary, and that is also going well. As always, if you can write decently and you take pictures of your hunts, let me know and I might be able to include it on our sites!
My daughter and I are headed to a big rock and gem show this morning, put on by a local Rock Hounding Club, so it will be a nice day!
