So this lull in varmit shooting has me considering other options. Anyone shoot jackrabbits? Where is a good spot to go? I've always heard they are fun to shoot and a bit bigger than whistle pigs but I've never shot any.
Sorry that this is off topic. There isn't a section for bunnies.
Thanks!

I've only seen one in the small handful of times I've been shooting in Idaho, but that mainly is because when doing Whistle Pigs we are driving in a truck and shooting all the way, and the one time I seen the jack rabbit I was alone while the son-in-laws went in the truck in a different direction and I was in a ghillie suit seeing what I could find.
I think Broper has shot a fair amount of them.

I haven't shot to many in Idaho. Saw two this winter while coyote hunting but dodn't try to shoot them. They run in cycles and right now the cycle is down in this area. I hear that northern Nevada has quite a few now and I've heard that there's quite a few in the south central Oregon area, around Lakeview. I have shot a lot of them in southern Utah in yearts past. Used to be thousands of them, it was nothing to shoot 50 or 60 every time we went out. Last time I was in that atrea though you couldn't find a jack rabbit any where. Wish they would come back in this area, they are fun to shoot and when there are lots of jacks there are a lot more coyotes.

Unloaded weapons and was on way out and seen jack rabbit and tried to stick magazine into .22lr pistol and watched it run out of view to right but as magazine installed another took off and I shot it on second shot and dropped it Running away through brush. Wish I was that good with my shotgun.
