It is too early and its too hot but a rancher just started calving out and to protect my access to the ranch I felt obligated. I went up yesterday afternoon, made six stands without seeing anything. Actually very little coyote sign. This morning I set up closer to the cattle. About 15 minutes into the first stand one showed up at four or five hundred yards. Stood for a long time before moving into a draw and out of sight. Showed again at about 200 yards and could not coax it any closer. A .223 50gr Ballistic Tip from the Sako ended his career. Probably a last years pup.
