Went to the range to sight the new Nikon M-223 600 BDC scope in and with hand loads put two shots touching each center at the target center cross hairs and then boffed the 3rd shot 2-1/4" off at 200 yards with my 16" barrel .223 AR. Wanted a 1/2" group at 200 yards.
Don't have time to go back to the range for a while, have to split wood for myself and my Dad, who just had quad disc back surgery at 74. Gotta get ready for winter.

Finished splitting my wood and Dad's wood. Started Saturday and did all of his in a day, he said it measured 6 cord, I was think a bit less. Did my a couple hours here and there after work and church and between rain and finished yesterday. Now to stack. For those that don't know, wood stacked in a pile does not dry well. The inside stays damp. I've probably got between 5 and 6 cords and I started with about a cord more than he had, or so I thought. Also, my youngest has finished college on an ROTC scholarship and will be a nurse for the Air Force for a few years. Her nursing pinning is tomorrow and graduation on Sunday. We are very proud of her. Now out of the 4 girls, 2 are RN's and the other two are full time Moms doing a great job with their kids. Very proud of all of them.

Hard work, splitting wood. Haven't done that in years. Good exercise for the 'ol ticker though.

Put a new Timney trigger in my AR last night as well as started getting my drag car ready to hopefully go out for the first time this year, tomorrow. The weather should hold. Changed the oil and now just going to wash it and the car trailer. Layer of dust on the car and layer of pollen on the trailer. I think if we all go it will be the first time all year everyone has shown up for the same race. I think there are 7 of us from mid 20's to 70 years old that we all race together.

I went out in the hills yesterday and tried to sight in a rifle. Think I need a new scope. Every time I tried to adjust it it shot in a completely different place, couldn't get it nowhere near center. Also my spotting scope isn't so good any more, couldn't see bullet holes at 100 yds. on 36X! Got so frustrated I couldn't concentrate on shooting, finally just gave up and went home. I was in whistle pig country but the whole time I was out there I saw two and they were in no danger.

I've been busy shooting stuff! I just haven't had time to post around like I normally do. If you guys don't mind, I'll post up some of my reports, including the great Northeast California ground squirrel slaughter and the terrible South Texas rain/wind out! Here's a teaser from my NE California hunt - Just a small pile of rodents: Here's a teaser from Texas, which was about the only highlight I had this time around: I wish I could have made it up there for the Whistle Pig and Badger contests! Maybe next year, definitely 2016 (should be as a resident). I hope everyone is doing well. My daughter is headed up to Boise State for their Honors College Summer Program for a week. She is applying in October, so once that is set in stone, we will start making our move as well. Eric

Not lately, but I am planning on taking one to Arizona for shoot some prairie dogs with one (probably the Kimber). I have a great load for some 33 grain V-Max blems I picked-up years ago. They used to launch the ground squirrels (when we used to be allowed to shoot lead around here), but I've never tried them on prairie dogs, so I'm interested to see how they perform.
I'll look for your report!

I've used 35 gr. V-Max with 12 gr. 2400 for prarie dogs in Wyoming, works real good. Also on the same hunt, shot a coyote at 176 yds. with same load. Dropped it right in it's tracks, DRT, not even a quiver. I'm now using mostly 40 gr. V-Max with 14 gr. Lil' gun. Really does a job on whistle pigs and I've killed 3 or 4 badgers and one coyote at 26 yds. with that load.
