Any one giving any thoughts to this situation? Any one giving any thoughts to what next summer could be like? Any one giving any thoughts to what is going to happen to the animal populations or there lack of? Any one giving any thoughts to what is going to happen with wildland fires?
I'm not seeing anything good coming along for anything or anyone. The Owyhees could see major big fires since there is no snow to speak of. I can foresee several hundred thousand acres going up in smoke which would be a first for thay type of area.
I see more fires this summer and less coyotes and bobcats than this past year. Everything is at a all time low and already stressed out from over hunting, no prey species to eat and lack of water.
Get ready for being smoked in and lung problems. Winter we get the cruddy fog and the summer smoke.
Just something to think about.

earthwalker,
I feel the pain already. I sit here and look out the window at the Squaw Butte (when I can see it, due to inversion), and there is little to no snow on it, as I wonder if there are storms coming to cover it up, before spring? I hope!
It is looking bad for the 2014 water year. It is going to be hot, hot, hot! this summer! A summer like we had a couple years ago, when half the country burned up. I feel sorry for those dry land farmers, and cattle ranchers, it is going to be rough on them all!
It also means that Electricity prices will have to go up also, due to the Power Company having to purchase power from other power sources.
Cross your fingers, and pray hard for a few big storms in the next couple months!
My 1/2 cent! (Inflation!!!)

If you own any animals that eat hay I'd start buying right now and stock piling. If not sell them hay will go through the roof by fall. There will be a water shortage and there won't be 4 and 5 cuttings of hay. Corn will be in short supply in the valley. Anything that has something to do with water will be high. Squaw B hasn't had enough snow on it in years. Another good year to burn it again I sure hope not. Went to town and was looking forward to seeing the sun when I went over Horsehoe Bend hill. Didn't happen on the way over did see a little blue sky on the way home. I could do with some nice warm sun again. Been watching the snotel site and the snow depth it's losing inch a day right now.

This morning on the newa the said we need 140" of snowpack before the end of our water year, which is the end of March. That's almost twelve feet. Doubt if we'll get that much at this point.
