Say, mighty quiet around here lately?
The crops are turning pretty good now. Some seed corn is already getting combined. Beans will soon be next, then the corn.
I'm looking for another good season on seeing the Reds around & about. I expect the coyote population to be medocre? at best. Although I haven't shot a Red in many yrs. I might consider one or two this Winter. They tempt me so ;D
As of two Winters ago. There have been two cougars seen in the county. I came across a pr of cougar tracks 2yrs ago. I've been looking hard to catch one out in the open these last few Winters, but to no avail. Bad timing I reckon. I figure its only a matter of time. Before I get to drop the hammer on one. Being retired & having all of my free time for hunting = Good!

Your much to generous, Gary Main reason why I yack so much. Is our Son never took to hunting[takes after his Mother's side] So, I hope to share some info that I've observed over the yrs. That a young hunter might find useful & can capitolize on? I was taught hunting predators, by my Dad & his two friends. When I was a young fella, age of 10. Learned as much as possible from them. I asked plenty of questions over those yrs, thats for sure. What great memories, I have hunting with them. Etched in my mind for ever. Although, I've yacked plenty on this site. Best piece of advice I could ever offer anyone is. Expect them to be on the down-wind. Canines spend very little time on the up-wind areas. Very little. Have a great season, yourself!

About another 2wks before the beans start coming out. Corn soon after. Then I'll be hunting hard. Had 56 coyotes sightings last season. Their pop was, down about 25% from the previous season.
Season of 03-04, was the best ever. Had 85 coyote sightings & seen 1-coyote hybrid.
