I'll probably be in Montana or Idaho in April shooting something. If Prairie dogs are out in Montana I may end up there with my .17hmr. I've always wanted to shoot them. They might be big enough to tan a couple and try to make some gloves or something. Whistle Pigs, take probably about 20 for a set of gloves.
After tanning the badger I got from Idaho, my deer hide is salting right now, I'm getting better at tanning and want to try a few different critters.

Only thing that would really help sway things would be if someone showed me where the Rock Chucks are, but I don't think they are out yet in early April, are they? I'd be just as happy with those as probably Prairie Dogs. Gloves are gloves if I can tan a few hides. But I think I'd have to use the .243 instead of the .17hmr, and my .243 has been devastating on animals as of late. I have to make my vacation time around the time my wife has off. I left and was gone during my 31st anniversary to go deer hunting this year and know not to make a habit of that.

The rock chucks should start coming out by then but would probably be better a month or so later. I have shot a few with my .218 Bee, it doesn't mess them up to bad. Sometimes the .22/250 doesn't leave to much glove material.

Still hunting but I think I'm about to have a major slow down with Christmas and relatives over. The wifey is getting a little funny about me being gone during this time. Just pulled my hunting face sock off. Had no idea of the great hair doo. Yesterday after hunting with Mike, we got our limit of 4 each by 8:45am:

No hunting this weekend, got a bunch of family over, all my kids, their husbands and all my grandkids. Me and the 3 son-in-laws are going to Cabelas this morning while I go kick myself for not buying one of the guns I wanted when it was on sale and now I'm sol. I only buy when it is an extremely good deal. If there were ducks available to shoot within an hour of the house I actually would have been gone but we had snow and the pre-Christmas weekend, that would make 2 hours actually 4 hours of driving.

This started out just to see what everyone is doing and I'm hoping someone will add to it... As of now February is house remodel month since I've got a bunch of kissing up to do for all the guns, ammo, hunting and racing I did last year without really doing much for the wife and fixing up the house. Still have all the flooring to do inside, mainly downstairs at least. She wants solid hardwood and a new ceramic floor at the entry. Spent this week getting crown mold ready for install with sanding and 3 coats of paint, about 3/4 way through finally figured out why it was so hard to get my corners to match sometimes, the trim we were given was two different sizes and angles for install and I was installing what I had set up for the one piece of board that I used for mock up. Still got done and still looks good. Installed about 180lf of it. The stack of paper on the stand is mostly reloading books. Don't know what the fascination is but I cannot seem to just put them away.

Hey! The crown moulding looks great. I'm a retired carpenter and I've put up a bunch of it, mainly in the casino/hotels in Vegas. Been a few years though. Good job.

Well, no gun stuff yet because I've moved to the kitchen and had to remove sheetrock, add blocking, tape, paint the lid and install coffered ceilings. Now all is left is to paint the coffers and install lighting when she picks what she wants. I've told her that I will have to focus on sighting in guns for a while to get ready to go to Montana and Idaho for some varmint hunting, starting at the end of the month. Wish I had time to get the reloader going, got some special rounds I wanted to make for the .223. After the brass grid and crushed ice panels taken down. Coffered ceilings installed, almost 500lf of wood for a 10x12 area for the coffers, not counting backing. Turned out great and I found I have a real nitch for crown mold. 4.5 hours for about 160 cuts and 32 copes for the crown mold and one of the layers of trim and most of the board were between 30" and 60"
