If all goes well I should be deer hunting now in Montana around Thanksgiving and coyotes, no tag, no license, no limit. Is it a good idea to keep some of the deer innards and use them for bait? Use the calls with it? Use the battery rabbit fur spinner thing? What would you experts do?
I've been told it is pretty much a gimme that I'll shoot a doe there with the B tags that my son-in-law thinks may still be available. He is going for one too. He said where their cabin is the deer lounge in the back farmland and if someone shoots and scares them off they are back in a couple hours.

And, if the deer tags are not available I'll be in Mountain Home, Idaho, with my daughter and son-in-law for Thanksgiving and giving it a go at geese, duck and coyotes.

I just did some exploring on the Montana game site and I believe my son-in-law was given some bad information, I think all the extra tags for his area are sold out. Looks to me I'm loading my duck and goose decoys and coyote things and headed to Idaho.
Is baiting considered non-sportsman for coyote?

I've never tried baiting coyotes. Seems like it would work. I don't know how anybody else feels but I don't see how baiting coyotes would be any more non-sportsman than baiting bears. I do think that it's more fun and exciting to call them in. In the contests we don't allow baiting or hunting over dead piles, just to give everybody the same chance.

What area are you going? I think we are near Lewistown.
