My 700 Varmint rifle .243 with about 120 rounds went from .5 moa to 2 moa and no amount of cleaning it seemed to help. A gun guru, they worship the ground this guy walks on at the range, put a scope down it and it appeared to still have some copper fouling but I finally got a better solvent(Bore Tech) but more important the bull barrel appeared to have heat check marks on the rifling and the crown looked a little rough. And, after 3 rounds the bull barrel would get pretty warm, but I do use some fairly hot Hornady rounds, 3925fps with 58 grain bullet. Remington took it, shot it and found it unaccurate, cleaned it, did a lapping on it, said they beveled the end of the barrel but said the crown was within specs, shot .5 moa with it and sent the target back with the rifle showing it, and at no cost as they even paid for me to send it to them. They did say it did not have heat check marks on it, but it sure looked like it to me but I imagine that the lapping took out whatever it may have had. Pretty good customer service.
