My brother, a big shotgun reloader, finally found some powder from out of state to bring in and I'm buying one of the kegs of Promo for $100. He bought 48lbs of powder to make the most of the hazmat and shipping fees. Still not much of anything around here but evidently it is out there. Just a FYI.
The big shotgun reloading supplier here still doesn't have much of anything. Guys are getting desperate and are paying crazy prices just to keep shooting. I have enough for the rest of the year and don't shoot a crazy amount so I'm now stocked with all supplies for about a year and a half of trap and skeet when the powder arrives. I haven't done all the math but I'm guessing I should be down to under 4.00/box and the going cheapest here is 6.60/box after tax.
Question on rifle ammo reloading, about how many cases do you guys usually reserve to make it a go where you want to reload? I've probably got about 150 .243 cases but I don't usually do shotgun reloading till I've got at least 500 hulls ready to go.

As for reloading brass, I have minimum of 1000 brass on hand. Maybe 500-600 loaded at any given time.
If you need shotgun powder and shotgun primers let me know I have some and don't reload shotgun.
The other night Sportsman in Nampa had 30 100 round boxes of 22 long rifle on the shelves, lots of powder also. Limit of three boxes per customer.

My daughter lives in Mountain Home. If you are close to there I would not mind hearing what you got and what prices you want and maybe have her pick it up on her way here to Washington later this month. I would be interested in primers, lead shot, wads or powder for the right price. You can Private Mail if you need to talk price. I'll send you a letter so you can just reply.
There was zero 22cal and .17hmr last time at Cabelas a week ago. Very little hand gun ammo too. Lots of shotgun ammo but all is way overpriced.
I use most of my .17hmr on Whistle pigs down there in April, so I got a little time and I've got a couple boxes left of what the scope is zeroed in for.

After buying almost any .223 powder I could find and paying a premium and really don't need any more for a long time powder is coming back for nearly all rifles and is cheaper. Doh! And I still bought another pound of H335.
Still no shotgun powder yet nor handgun in anything worth talking about. Got a keg of shotgun coming from Northern Idaho in a couple weeks, then I'll be up to snuff for all my guns for several years.
Also bought a pound of Hornady/Hogdon Superperformance powder in the hopes of making my 95 grain SST for the .243 and low and behold, it is for lighter grain bullets. I'll still use it.

Bought another 4lbs of H335 to go with my other powder for .223, so I think I have enough for 10 years or so of that and others and at a great price. Couldn't pass it up as so far it is my favorite powder for the .223 so far. Buying bullets on sale and reloading my price for the .223 is about what I pay for my .17hmr rimfire.

Powder is starting to show up more on the shelves around here. Especially Hodgdon. Some stores have more than others. Mostly rifle powder, still don't see a lot of pistol or shotgun powder. Now if .22 ammo would just start showing up on shelves.

.22lr is starting to show and I actually got a box of my most accurate for my pistol at a really good price, though limited to one box of 325. It is the Winchester Semi-auto box, whitish gray? Colors is not my strong point, and my wife will vouch. But I did get some CCI Mini Mags and paid dearly for them and have never shot any, yet. They are hollow point and I'm hoping a bit better on the Montana ground squirrels as you can get much closer to them than you can the Idaho ground squirrels where I use my .17hmr more often.

Yeah, two different times I got Federal Auto-Match, box of 325 and once I got CCI mini-mag hollow point, 100 rd. box for $7.99. They are starting to show up more but still limited amounts and not out on the shelf.

You are right, Federal Auto-match, not Winchester. That stuff is really good.

I haven't tried it yet, but will soon. I've never seen it before, must be something fairly new.

I have had some boxes for a small handful of years but only use it when I'm going for accuracy. Plinking, I break out the old standard big box of Federals and hope for the best. Usually have a few bad primers in the lot. Have never had one bad round of the Federal Auto-match.

Since there is hardly any activity on here, thought I'd post on this old one about powder, but Midway is having a pretty good sale on bullets right now. Page 1, if left, they had 50 grain .223 dogtown, 500 for about .08 ea and one box left; on page 2 there was 40 grain .223 vmax for about .14ea in box of 250. And some of the other items are priced pretty good too. When I bought my box of Dogtown there were 22 boxes. www.midwayusa.com/find?dimensionids=4294846727&newcategorydimensionid=13957&cm_vc=L013

I saw that midway ad. Most of the shops around this area are getting a pretty good supply of powder now. I haven't been able to find any Hodgdon Lil' Gun though. Hope they haven't discontinued it. A lot more bullets but still not many 6 m/m bullets for some reason. Primers seem to come and go but they're easier to find than they were. .22 l r ammo is still pretty scarce. Some comes in every once in awhile. Things are better than they were a few months ago but still a long ways from normal.

Have you shot any of the Nosler 35 grain non-lead bullets. They can go pretty fast in a .223, around 3600 - 3800fps, and they have the same ballistics roughly as a 40 grain vmax type bullet, my most accurate load, that has been as accurate as 1/4" at 100yds. Made a ladder but don't think I'll have time to shoot unless I play hooky from some chores. I tend to work first and play later. Today, father's day, it was finish splitting fire wood. Finally got it done in two days, about 5 cord.
Wife is leaving out of town, I may just do a little shooting after work sometime this week. Haven't gone since I was in Idaho last, what was it, April?
