I've seen a few chucks out and about and a friend has been seeing them along the roads around Twin Falls. Seems kinda early for them to be out but we have had a fairly mild winter. I'm anxious to get out and try my new (to me) .17 Remington on them.

Bob, I've been thinking about checking in on the site for a while but just kept getting distracted. I'm glad you posted.
That is good news about Rock Chuck sightings. Tell me more about your .17 Remington.
I'm scheduled for shoulder surgery and may have to pull retirement to survive though I've got a year to turn 62 for social security, which would add enough to make things easier. They said 6 months recovery so I'm not sure when I'll even get to go shooting for a while as they mentioned 6 weeks in a sling. Things are still going good here though a bit of a new learning curve on being off instead of working but I have plenty to do, but unfortunately a lot has to do with using 2 arms, not 1.

I hadn't posted anything in quite a while so thought I'd try and see if there was any response. As usual, nothing. I bought the .17 Rem. from a guy on another forum. I think he was in Kentucky. It's a Rem. 700 stainless fluted barrel synthetic stock. Got dies, 400 bullets and 200 rds. of brass in the deal I haven't really shot it much. It should do a number on rock chucks. I put a Burris 4.4-14x scope on it. We've had so much wet weather, it's too wet and muddy to get out in the hills yet. Sure getting anxious to get out and shoot/hunt something. Even ground squirrels. I had a couple surgeries last fall. Had to have my prostate, bladder and left kidney worked over. That really put me down. Took me about three months to heal and recuperate. Really sapped my energy. But I'm pretty much back to normal now. I've slowed down a lot though, don't walk too good anymore. Nerve damage from a spinal injury years ago and can't get out and hunt the coyotes to much anymore. I retired when I was 53. My knees started bothering me a little so I decided to quit while I could still get out and do things I liked. That's when I moved up here from Vegas. I got a part time job at Sportsman's Warehouse until I was able to get S.S. Living the so called "Golden Years"! I've yet to see any gold, lol.
