A Nampa native new to coyote hunting. Been hunting upland game and waterfowl hunter for years with access to family land and a few clubs in the treasure valley. Looking to learn more about coyote hunting so I can extend my hunting season a bit more. Just getting into this so I've been reading and researching a lot about the sport. Been talking about getting into this for a couple years now. Time to stop talking about it and dive in. Looking forward to getting out and have some fun with another great hobby.
John
My varmint guns are a .22 and .223.

Hello & Welcome johnny1975,
Welcome to the crazy addictive life of a predator hunter! This is probably a good place to start! Get to know some of the guys in the club, and ask questions, ask them to take you out and show you the ropes.
A 22LR is good for squirrels, the 223, as far as I am concerned is the smallest round I would use for coyotes, a 50, 52, 53, 55, up to 63 grain bullets.
I shoot a 22-250 Rem. Shooting a 52 or 53 grain Sierra Match Bullet at 3600 fps. Good Coyote calling medicine. I know a lot of guys that shoot the 223, either in an AR15 platform or in a bolt gun! It works very well! The 223 is also very good for badgers.
We have a meeting this Tuesday evening, starts at 7pm, come early and chat with the guys and have some dinner with us!
See Ya! Gary
