My favorite location is Owyhee County. I prefer a Remington Model 700 .270 XCR (130-gr Ballistic Silvertip) and if I am not carrying it, I revert to a single shot 45-70 Gov’t (325-gr FTX). Nikon scopes top all my firearms these days, even my shotgun. While I don’t normally shoot yotes with my 45-70, I never pass up the opportunity but it does have some range limitations along with cost.
Like the yote hunting, I am a novice photographer with an occasional video thrown in the mix. When I have the time, I tinker with some You Tube videos of my adventures. www.youtube.com/user/BDSUSA?feature=mhee

I have to say, I don't care how long you have been calling or hunting coyotes, you are always a novice. Coyotes change like the wind, you can never get a good handle on them.
I have been calling coyotes for 41 years, and I am still a novice. Started when I was 10 years old, with my Grandpa, and was hooked from the very moment. I still get so excited about going, that the night before, I can't fall asleep, tossing and turning, looking at the clock, hurry up and get to be 4am.
I guess it doesn't matter what caliber you shot them with, if you don't take the pelt. But, A Rainbow Gun, man that is a bit harsh. I shot a bear once with a 45-70, blew a hole in it big enough to walk through. 300 gr Hollow Point bullet.
Now that 270, it will reach out and touch stuff in a good way.
