I hear they are everywhere. Highly adaptable to most any country. Rocky and brushy is what I've read they like but they travel a good distance. I've never seen one or hunted for them so take that for what its worth. I'm going to give it a shot this season too. Good luck to you.

I've never specifically hunted for bobcats but I've seen quite a few over the years while deer/elk hunting. Only shot at one and missed it. I'm going to try to get out and call one in this year. I don't know about the Bennets but don't know why they shouldn't be there. What I've been told is to look for rocky outcroppings and bluffs with brushy areas. Hope some of us can get one this season, good luck!

if you have cougars hanging around your bobs have moved on, they don't mix. I hate the thought of shooting a bob and ruining the hides.

Good info on the Cougars and Bobcats. I didnt know that they didnt mingle. That helps to explain an area I was hunting in last weekend where a few lion hunters were in the vicinity chasing cats. Ive never trapped anything and know absolutely zero about trapping so bear with me here.. How do you trap an animal and then put it down without shooting it? (Im imagining the steel jaw traps that snap shut on a leg)

Hey Eric, A lot of guys use a choker to kill them in the trap. I've known guys that shot them with a .22 rim fire then just sew up the hole. I've heard the same thing about bobcats and mt. lions not mixing. I'm no expert by a long ways but when I lived up around Orofino I saw bobcat and lion tracks in the same vicinity. I don't know. Bob

Just my 2 cents.. (maybe only 1 cent) hunted bobcats in nor cal for 10 years with dogs and found almost as many mtn lions as cats in the same areas. Mostly brushy and rocky areas with thick timber. Seems like they wouldnt respond to calling as much when there were mtn lions in the area. Dispatch method.....22 lr.

.22 shorts hollow point to the lungs if you have to. a choke stick is the best way. They are foot traps and they close. I'm not saying bobcats and cougar don't live in the same area but we have found out if a lion is in the area the bobs seem to move on and don't hang around each has a territory and they mark their areas. If you have the thick terrain of the No Cal and the coast I can see more close living. But not in the sagebrush terrain of this area.
