For anyone one interested and wanting to have some fun, sportsmans warehouse is doing their annual coyote hunt this saturday Jan. 15th. It is a blast with good people and good prizes, for $20 a team it's hard to beat, and it's a good excuse to chase the yotes. I have done it for the last three years and have had a lot of fun. Call them 208-737-9900 and sign up.

Well it was a fun hunt. My buddy and I went out and set up a little bit late on a couple of foothills overlooking a feedlot about a mile away. I let loose with a female invitation howl, and not ten seconds go by and my buddy whispers coyote. 300 yds on a ridge looking at us, so I let off some high squeaks and here he comes, and 50 yards behind him his partner. I turn on the foxpro 30 yds below us on low volume and he shows up at about 60 yds and stops his partner never came out of the draw so I tell my friend to take him, and he dumped him, male coyote about 25 lbs. I hit the pup in distress after the shot expecting her to exit the way she came, but nothing. So we go up and over the hill about a half mile and set up again. I howled, distressed, kiyied, howled again and then hit the serenade. I was just about to stand up and here she comes up the ridge from the bottom about 250yds heading right to my buddy who was about 75 yards to my left. She stopped to scan the area but no shot so I mouse squeaked and she started circling more to my buddy 10 more yds and I am going to lose sight of her so I bark and stop her no shot so at 200yds I drill her with the 204 and she rolls down the hill, it was very steep. My buddy was standing up when I shot he didn't see her cause he was looking backup the hill, luckily it worked out. The rest of the day was uneventful, super muddy, and warm. We got to sportsmans and 110 teams signed up 1st place had 3 coyotes 4 teams had 2 yotes, luckily they drew us out of the 4 and we got some gift certificates for 2nd, and 9 teams had singles, just a low coyote turn in, to warm. It was a lot of fun and sorry but I forgot to take some pics. Lesson learned: combination of sounds, the bitches are in heat the female I shot had a swollen you know what and bloody discharge, to bad for romeo but he wanted to see what coyote was howling to come and take his women, try the howls they are working right now. Good luck this weekend in the coyote classic. Brian
